My name is Shannon Wildman, but I've really embodied my nickname "Shan" since starting my business. I’m 29 years old, living in Hamilton Kirikiriroa. With 14 years experience behind the camera, and almost 6 years professionally, my passion for photography has been with me since I can remember.
I specialise in personal branding photography for female entrepreneurs and small business owners. I’m passionate about connecting with other women in business and helping them tell their story through fun and authentic imagery.
I discovered this passion in the early stages of my business, when I’d walk away from a shoot with a fellow woman feeling inspired and empowered. Personal branding photography feels so aligned for me, it’s the perfect blending of my love for building connections and telling a story through visual art.
I've learned so much about showing up since starting my business, so this year I added personal branding coaching to my services. I support women in building their own personal brands, through navigating social media and helping them identify ways that they can show up authentically.
My journey behind the camera started with a tea box..
My very first memory of a "camera" was actually the cutting of a hole in the corner of a Twinings tea box.
I remember running around with the box pressed to my eye, looking through the hole like a viewfinder, and pretending to snap photos.
I think I was about 4 years old.
My first actual camera was given to me by a friend in primary school who didn’t use it. Since then, I’ve been documenting everything. I have hard drives full of memories from around the age of 10, where I really started to take photos. These images are so special to me now, as I can look back and see my changes as a young woman. It’s true that the value of an image only increases over time.
As you can see, I'm not afraid to jump in front of the camera myself - it's actually so much fun! As a photographer you can learn so much from experiencing what it's like to be a client - to be vulnerable in front of another person. You won't regret investing in yourself and your brand.
